Students’ recital

Two recitals will be given by children from the Shirley Instrumental Music Scheme today. The scheme had given hundreds of children the chance to learn a variety of 'musical instruments, said a spokesman, Mr Fraser Robfertson.

About 250 children participated in the scheme, which had a senior orchestra, two junior orchestras, a woodwind section, and a brass section.

The programme provided music tuition for pupils from schools in the Shirley area.

Some of the children will give a recital for the residents of Windsor House at 2 p.m. today, and a 7.30 p.m. recital for the public at Shirley Boys’ High School hall.
