War toys
Sir, —I am alarmed to see advertisements in your newspaper supporting the sale of war toys for. children. Violence is a horrible destructive reality in our society these days, perpetuated by what may seem like.” "harmless play,” with toys like “G. I. Joe,” but in truth creating a false acceptance of violent behaviour at an older age. These; toys of aggression do not promote a caring attitude and I find it unacceptably irresponsible for companies to promote these toys for children; not to mention your newspaper, which willingly advertises war toys, thus aiding patterns of violence in our society. — Yours, etc., WILMA VAN HELLEMOND. November 29, 1988.
