Californian ’quake
NZPA-Reuter Los Angeles A moderate earthquake hit a large area of southern California on Saturday, jolting people awake and causing minor injuries but no significant
damage. A spokesman for the California Institute of Technology confirmed a preliminary announcement that the early morning quake measured 5.0 on the Richter scale.
