Car park problems a thing of the past
Have car — need car park? Then the Christchurch City Council has the space for you while you are doing your Christmas shopping. Roy Taylor-Hayhurst, of the Christchurch City Council, explained.
“Normal hours of operation will apply. The Oxford Terrace carpark, next to Noahs, will be open from 7.30 a.m. until 11.45 p.m. five days a week and from 9 until 11.45 p.m. on the Saturdays leading up to Christmas. The only days on which it will be closed are the 26th and 27th of December.
"On Monday, January 2nd - and Tuesday, January 3rd it will operate from 6.15 until
11.45 p.m. to cater for theatre patrons.
“The Manchester Street carpark, normally open from 7.30 a.m. until 6.15 p.m. will stay open until 11.45 p.m. on Wednesday 14th, Friday 16th, Wednesday 21st and Friday 23rd of December and on the two Saturdays prior to Christmas — the 17th and 24th — when shops will be open until 5.30 p.m., this carpark will stay open from 9 a.m. to 6.15 p.m. It will be closed on December 26th, 27th, Saturday 31st and Monday and Tuesday — 2nd and 3rd of January. The big thing is that there will be no late night on Friday, 30th December so all carparks
will close at 6.15 p.m. apart from the Oxford Terrace one.
“The hours for the Tuam Street carpark are exactly the same as for the Manchester Street one, with the only change being Saturday 31st, when it will be open from 9 a.m. until 1.15 p.m.
“For the Lichfield Street carpark, again it is the same as Manchester Street, only on Saturday 31st it will be open from 9 a.m. until 1.45 p.m.”
Mr Taylor-Hayhurst said he believed the new Kilmore Street carpark — a seven-days-a-week operation — would be open right throughout the “holiday” period,
