TV3 expected to give on-air date
PA Auckland TV3 is expected to name an on-air date next week on the eve of the private television company’s move into its Auckland television station and headquarters.
Details of the company’s corporate investors are also likely to be announced.
The head of TV3 news, Marcia Russell, rejected suggestions from the retiring Broadcasting Corporation chairman, Hugh Rennie, that TV3 was not worth investing in.
At the corporation’s final meeting this week Mr Rennie said he would not put his money into an enterprise of the nature planned by TV3 “and that seems to be the view that many other people in
New Zealand have reached in recent times.” Ms Russell said she was puzzled and angered by
Mr Rennie’s remarks. “I am surprised he would make such a remark when he is not privy to any information on the corporate investors we have attracted,” she said.
