N.Z. writer unplaced
NZPA London Steven Eldred-Grigg, of New Zealand, failed in his bid to win the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize in London yesterday. Eldred-Grigg was one of the eight finalists for the prestigious award with his novel, “Oracles and Miracles.” The work is about twin sisters growing up in Christchurch in the 30s and 40s. The judges awarded the £lO,OOO ($28,490) prize to a Nigerian writer, Festus lyayi, for his novel, “Heroes.”
