Bolger stranded on Ice
The Leader of the Opposition, Mr Bolger, has been placed on ice overnight. Mr Bolger is stranded in Antarctica after a Hercules aircraft, due to fly him and other visiting V.I.P.S back to New Zealand yesterday, had to turn back because of bad weather. The National Science Foundation Hercules left Christchurch yesterday morning but bad weather at McMurdo Sound forced the cancellation of the flight and the aircraft returned to New Zealand. A United States Naval Support Force Antarctica spokesman said that, weather permitting, an aircraft would fly south today to collect the visitors. As well as Mr Bolger, the member of Parliament for Yaldhurst, Mrs Margaret Austin, and a 15-member Soviet team have been visiting Scott Base for four days.
