Bright star ready to glitter
Camallino Star will be in exalted company if she can win her secend successive 1600 m feature at a middle day of a Riccarton Cup carnival today. The race has traditionally been known as the Churchill Stakes but substantial sponsorship has been given by Ken Lane International Holdings to
the event for the next three years hence the change of name. Last year Camallino Star upset the favourites, beating Slick Million and Random Chance. The last dual winner of the race was the great mare Show Gate, in 1973 and 1974, and she was also the first in modern times to achieve the feat.
Camallino Star is not badly off all things considered in the weights and she should go a bold race with Morgan Page, In Pursuit and Palatable Prince all worthy opponents. The danger down in the weights could be Camallino Star’s stablemate, Joytripper.
