‘Quartet’ exhibits

A “Quartet” of artists will display their various arts at the C.S.A. Gallery from next Tuesday evening. They are Francis Allison, Maurice Askew, David Cheer, and Frederika Ernsten. Francis Allison will show jewellery and silverwork. She is from Christchurch. After two years at the University of Canterbury School of Fine Art, she studied in London. She set up her own business in London in 1986 and has exhibited at Goldsmith’s Hall, the Design Centre, the Edinburgh Festival and City Art Gallery, and the European Silver Triennale, Germany. This is her first exhibition of work “back home.” Maurice Askew does landscape paintings. He is a graduate of Birmingham College of Art and Crafts and moved from Granada Television, where he was head of design, to Christchurch to set up the graphic, photographic and film sections at the University of Canterbury School of Fine Arts. He is a fellow of New Zealand Society of Designers and patron of the Canterbury Film Society. David Cheer will exhibit drawings. Frederika Ernsten is a potter. She was a founder member of the Studio 393 Group which disbanded four years ago and she now runs Courtyard Pottery in Rutland Street. The "Quartet” exhibition will continue until November 20.
