Stu Buchanan, one of Christchurch’s leading jazz clarinet and saxophone players will perform with his Youth Jazz Band in the Great Hall of the Arts Centre this Friday. The concert is part of a lunchtime recital series being held every Friday at 1.10 p.m in the Great Hall. Stu Buchanan has taught many young jazz musicians at the Christ-
church School of Instrumental Music and in various high schools. The players in the Youth Jazz Band are drawn from these sources as well as other players who have now left school. This concert will include well-known standards such as “In the Mood,” “Evergreen,” and “Saturday in the Park,” through to “Disco Wars,” “Watermelon Man,” and a Maori medley.
