Soviet call
Radical economic reforms started by the Soviet leader, Mikhail Gorbachev, should move into new areas, according to new Kremlin ideology chief, Vadim Medvedev. Medvedev, in a speech reported by the Government news-
paper, “Pravda,” advocated wide use of market forces, leasing arrangements and cooperative businesses to boost the economy. Market forces were a crucial means of public control over the quality and cost of goods, he said.
