Health package in 10 days
PA Wellington The Government hopes to announce its much delayed health package within 10 days, said a spokesman for the Minister of Health, Mr Caygill, yesterday. The package will include details of the transfer of some responsibilities from the Health Department to the new area health boards, increases in Government subsidies on visits to doctors and an increase in prescription charges. The latest delay in the release of the report is because of the need for the Government to consult a Labour Party policy committee on the increased prescription charges, which conflict with party policy. Mr Caygill’s spokesman said the consultation was going well and should be completed soon.
