Watch Me Fella has ideal preparation
Special correspondent Dunedin
Watch Me Fella had an ideal lead-up race to the Rising Stars series at the Canterbury Park meeting tomorrow night when he won fresh-up at the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s meeting last Saturday night. “He felt really strong,” said Ali Malcolmson, who drove Watch Me Fella to lead practically through-
out the 2700-metre race. Watch Me Fella set a steady pace and dashed away near the 400 m to score by five lengths.
It was Watch Me Fella’s first race for three months and his Dunedin owner-trainer, Kevin Court, is also viewing the Sires’ Stakes Series for him.
® Mister Gaines went within 1.38 s of the track record for 2700 m (mobile) when he re-
corded his third successive win.
He lasted by a long neck from the strong-fin-ishing Scottish Sailor after leading for the last 1000 metres.
His time was 3:27.73, a 2:03.9 mile rate.
Trainer Doug Stiven plans to start Mister Gaines in a C4-C6 free-for-all at Forbury Park this Saturday, and then freshen him for the New Zealand Cup meeting.
