NZPA-AAP Canberra The Warwick Farmtrained galloper, Centose, followed up his excellent fourth behind Natski in the A.J.C. Metropolitan last week with a strong staying performance to win the Bicentennial Canberra Cup (2400 m on Sunday. Ridden to perfection by Kevin Moses, Centose, the 2-1 favourite, came right away in the straight to score by five lengths from the 20-1 chance, Peaceful Kingdom, ridden by Ken Russell.

Strike Regal (12-1), with Shane Dye riding, was one and a quarter lengths further back third. Despite the gelding’s outstanding win his trainer, Guy Walter, said it was highly unlikely he would make the trip to Melbourne for the Caul-field-Melbourne Cups double.
