Urban design may mirror Australia’s
Christchurch may take a leaf from Australia’s book when it comes to urban design. Committee approval was given yesterday for the Christchurch City Planner and City Architect to visit certain Australian cities to study urban design trends.
The Christchurch City Council’s staff did not have special training in urban design, the townplanning committee was told. The visit to Australia by two senior staff was recommended before redevelopment of the City Mall was finalised, if possible.
