Staff changes at Wigram base

Air Commodore Tommy Thomson, Air Officer Commanding the Wigrambased R.N.Z.A.F. Support Group, has been promoted Deputy Chief of Defence Staff, in the rank, of Air' Vice-Marshal. The R.N.Z.A.F. base, Wigram, will have a new commander from December when the present commander, Group Captain Graeme Goldsmith, is posted to a year-long course at the Royal College of Defence Studies in London. The changes are part of a series of senior postings and promotions involving moves for commanders at four of the Air Force’s six bases. • s . The new Support Group commander will be Group Captain John Hosie, at present commander'of the Ohakea base. He will be promoted air commodore. Wing Commander David Hill, an aeronautical engineer based at Defence Headquarters, Wellington, will be the new base commander at Wigram, and will be promoted group captain. Air Commodore Thomson has been commander of the Support Group since August, 1985. Group Captain Goldsmith took command of the Wigram base in April, 1987. Group Captain Hosie joined the R.N.Z.A.F. in 1959. He has previously served at Wigram as an instructor and flight commander at the Central
■Flying School. Wing Commander Hill joined the R.N.Z.A.F. in 1963 and is at present
deputy director of force equipment plans in the policy branch of Defence Headquarters, Wellington.
