Silver Mask lightweight chance

Special correspondent Invercargill Silver Mask is an appealing lightweight for the Piper and Turner 1600, the feature race and first leg of the T.A.B. double, at the Southland Racing Club’s meeting tomorrow. The lightly-raced Silver Blaze gelding, now four, has quickly confirmed his marked promise of last season in his latest racing. Silver Mask, which will be ridden by in-form Grant Davison, four times successful at Orari on Monday, finished second on the third day of the Grand National carnival. He was then a winner at Wingatui before failing on that course in unseasonally hard going last time out From a favourable draw of three, Silver Mask will make matters interesting for those weighted above him, some of whom lack racing to be sufficiently seasoned for 1600 metres in easy ground.
