Bad weather balked deliveries
Bad weather thwarted New Zealand Post’s Fastpost delivery to Christchurch overnight yesterday. A flight from Wellington and Auckland, bringing North Island mail, could not land at Christchurch Airport on Tues-
day night. The flight finally reached Christchurch at 10 a.m. yesterday. A New Zealand Post spokesman said the mail was sorted into private boxes at the Christchurch Mail Centre in Hereford Street by 10.30 a.m.
The. rest was sent to suburban post offices and sorted into private boxes by about 4 p.m. But mail sent to Christchurch households was worst affected. This did not arrive in time for sorting, and will not be delivered until today.
