Archer receives new bow
NZPA-Reuter Seoul The Solomon Islands’ ‘ lone Olympic archer came last yesterday but 1 he is going home with a braoad smile and a new bow. ’ Jerrick Tenai, a 20-year-old security guard, ” learned to shoot only three months ago and ar- ‘‘ rived in Seoul with what ,■ he admitted was a pretty r primitive bow.
But a South Korean bow-making company took pity on him, presented him with a bow. worth more than SUSSOO and taught him how to use it. . “I’ve never had a bow like this before,” said Tenai caressing the hitech fibreglass instrument. “When I get home I’ll have to tell the Government to introduce this
bow. “I’ll practise for four years and I might be back at the next Olympics.” In spite of his new bow, Tenai finished last in the men’s individual open round and was eliminated. He scored only 505 points compared with the 1304 total of the leading competitor, Vladimir Echeev, of the Soviet Union.
