Specialised computer systems
Harcourts Real Estate have an Altos 2086, American-developed computer system, supporting a multi-processing, multiuser operating system called “Xenix.” Harcourts computer system, along with the assistance of “High-Tech” communication modems, provides the sales branches with up-to-the minute support and instantaneous access to listings, sales and valuation data. Along with the real estate system, the computer also offers extensive
support at management level, by way of a comprehensive word processing package, spreadsheet, business graphics system and accounting facilities. In today’s fast moving computerisation world, one cannot afford to stand still for fear of fierce competition or losing perspective. As a result, Harcourts have committed themselves to a major shareholding in Altos Computer Systems, thus giving them an added advantage in real estate computerisation.
