Journalist hit by car
Mr Larry Saunders, a former sports editor and columnist with “The Star,” was seriously ill in Christchurch Hospital last evening after being hit by a car on Monday. Mr Saunders, aged 66, suffered head injuries and multiple fractures, including two broken legs. He is in the hospital’s intensive care unit. The accident happened
about 7.10 p.m. outside, the Hoon Hay Working Men’s Club, in Tankerville Street. Senior Traffic Sergeant Russell Dellow said Mr Saunders was crossing the road when hit by a car. He said the Ministry of Transport was investigating the accident and still had several witnesses to interview.
