Slip blocks highway
A massive slip this morning blocked State highway 2 six kilometres north of Tauranga. The Works and Development Corporation in Tauranga said the slip was in an unstable area. It had come down about 5 a.m. covering 50 metres of road to a depth of three metres. The road was expected to be open for one-way traffic by afternoon and completely open by the end of the day. A detour along side roads was available.—-PA.
