Interest in early retirement

PA Wellington The Health Department has had more than 100 inquiries from staff about its early retirement offer. Budget constraints have led the department to offer early retirement to anyone over 50 who has had at least 10 years continuous Government service. Staff have until today to express interest in the scheme. Districts and regions assistant manager Ms Sheila Burgess said more than 100 people had asked for more details about the scheme. “That does not mean all will take up that option,” she said. Eligible staff are being offered three months pay, with additional payments according to the number of dependants and length of service.
