Prams on buses
Sir, —On September 16 you published a letter about carrying prams on buses. I would like your readers to know that we do not carry prams on the front of buses before 9 a.m. and between 4.30 p.m. and 6.00 p.m. on weekdays, because of the delays it causes to other passengers when
the driver leaves the bus to load the pram. Prams are also not carried on the front of buses after dark because they block the light from the headlights. I am most concerned to hear about the driver’s rude behaviour. Unfortunately, we cannot do anything about this case as we need to receive complaints in writing with 72 hours of the incident. This is a requirement of the award under which our drivers are employed. I would encourage anyone who is unhappy with our bus service to ring the Christchurch Transport Board as soon as possible and to follow this with a letter.—Yours, etc. P. V. NEARY, Chairman, Christchurch Transport Board. September 22, 1988.
