Promotion nets six for south
Six North Island organisations are interested in relocating their businesses to Christchurch as a result of promotions in Wellington and Auckland. Another three have asked for more information, reported the chairman of Christchurch ’BB, Mr Alan Shadwell, to the Christchurch City Council property and promotion committee yesterday. Mr Shadwell said the recent promotions had drawn a widespread interest, and highlighted a gap in Christchurch’s public relations. The promotion was funded by local council grants as well as contributions' from the commercial sector.
Mr Shadwell suggested a regular promotion would be useful and suggested council funding for it. Representatives of the City Council will meet with him to discuss further grants. A Christchurch management consultant, Sheffield Consulting Group (5.1.), Ltd, reports a number of inquiries from Australia from people seeking jobs in Christchurch. The company suggests Christchurch is unlikely to be invaded from Auckland by 'people seeking jobs. It supports the Christchurch ’BB promotion as a way of attracting businesses, and jobs, to the city.
