Baby left alone for evening
A St Albans couple allegedly left a baby, aged 12 months, alone in their home for three and a half hours on Saturday night, according to the Christchurch police. The police said the child was left in a Springfield Road flat from 11 p.m. to 2.30 a.m. while the couple attended a party. “The police are to lay a complaint with the Court that the child was not under proper care and control,” said SeniorSergeant T. J. Williams.
“Some consideration is to be given to a more serious charge.” The police went to the address after receiving a report that the baby had been crying for a long period. It is believed the police had been at the address 15 minutes when the couple arrived home.
