Gold fall hits Vancouver index
NZPA-Reuter Vancouver The Vancouver Stock Exchange index has dropped sharply to threeyear. lows, mainly due to the precipitous recent decline in the price of gold, analysts said. The highly speculative, venture-capital Pacific coast market is traditionally tied to gold prices
which have tumbled below the SUS4OO level for the first time in almost two years.
“I guess the fall is not surprising in terms of what is happening to the larger capitalised issues,” said Mr Stephen Semeniuk, vice-president for Canarim Investment Corp, Ltd.
