Playcentre supports report
The Playcentre Federation can see “big advantages” in the bulk funding proposal recommended in a report to the Government on early childhood and education. The federation president, Mrs Barbara Chapman, said the equity in funding would give the federation’s centres enough additional money to lessen the pressure to raise funds. It would also encourage innovative thinking, she said. The report of the party, headed by Dr Anne Meade, and released on Thursday, advocated a complete revamp of preschool care and education. Mrs Chapman said the federation endorsed the importance placed in the report on quality early childhood services which were “accessible, affordable and culturally relevant.”
