Celebration issue of stamps due

The first in a series of stamp issues counting down to New Zealand’s 1990 celebrations, will go on sale from October 5. “The Land,” the first issue of six stamps, will feature New Zealand landscape paintings by nineteenth century artists. • Fourteen definitive stamps will be withdrawn from sale from all New Zealand Post outlets on November 1. The $1 kiwi round stamp will picture a common kiwi (Apteryx australis), and will be sold only in booklets of six stamps. A traditional engraving process has been used to produce a limited edition of high quality, intaglio stamps in one colour, olive green.
