Dinner ends stunt
A TV dinner, a quiet cigarette and a few telephone calls, was the way the Rev. Simon Baliantyne spent his last evening buried underground. Mr Baliantyne, the vicar of St Anne’s Anglican Church in St Martins, was buried in his garden shed four metres underground on Thursday morning. He spent yesterday answering telephone calls and reading. After 32 hours he was starting to feel a bit stiff, but still not claustrophobic, and was looking forward to seeing his wife again at 10 a.m. today. He had plenty of food and water supplies, and the only thing he had forgotten was a double adaptor. The 48-hour stunt is the third Mr Baliantyne has performed to help raise funds for St Anne’s annual church fair which is being held today.
