Govt wooing exporters?
PA Wellington Exporters were in danger of being conned by a Government trying to “suck up” to them, the Opposition spokesman on agriculture, Mr John Falloon, said yesterday. After a meeting with manufacturers and agricultural exporters’ representatives yesterday the Prime Minister, Mr Lange, said exporting was the "crux” of the economy and his Government was
committed to seeing that the sector was viable. Mr Falloon said the Government, was recognising it had made grave errors in nearly dismantling the export sector and was now trying to “suck up” to it, realising without a viable export sector there was no future for the economy. But there were no policy changes in the six months since Mr Lange met the exporters’ delegation in March that had improved their competitiveness, he said.
