Douglas hits back at ‘risk’ comment
Wellington reporter The Finance Minister, Mr Douglas, has taken issue with commments made this week by Fletcher Challenge’s managing director, Mr Hugh Fletcher. Mr Fletcher had said that in spite of Rogernomics’ “upside potential” being greater than previous economic directions, it also held great “downside risk.” Mr Douglas yesterday retorted that without the Government’s economic policies there would never have been any upside potential “whatsoever.” Mr Douglas has challenged Mr Fletcher to tell the public where the upside potential he spoke of would have come from if it had not been for the Government.
