Greyhounds Call Me Grace proves win no fluke
Call Me Grace served notice that she will take some heading in a number of feature races carded throughout the South Island, during the coming weeks when she won the Robinson Rosebowl Stakes at Queen Elizabeth II Park yesterday.
The black bitch surprised many when she returned odds of 78-to-l winning at the Christchurch Greyhound Racing Club’s September 8 meeting.
However, Call Me Grace once again proved how false those odds were by leading the field throughout the 560 m. This was not made any easier for her by having to start from the outside box.
Her Aranui trainer and part-owner, ’ Don Robinson, has the $lO,OOO InterProvincial Stakes at Invercargill earmarked for her next month, and then on to the $20,000 New Zealand Championship meeting during Show week in Christchurch.
The second placegetter, Wild Irishman, did remarkably weir to finish so close to the winner after settling back early. Wild Irishman was finishing powerfully at the finish, and it appears that his trainer, Ray Adcock, has the brindle dog back to his best, Results Weather fine; track firm ANSETT NEW ZEALAND STAKES $500; C2; 330m1-l ARRAN BLAZE 2 (R.
