ASSISTANT Applications are invited for a vacancy created by the retirement of an Assistant Director of the New Zealand Dairy Research Institute (NZDRI) in November 1988. The appointment will be for an initial period of five years, with renewal(s) by mutual agreement. The successful candidate will join the senior management team, consisting of the Director and Assistant Directors. The applicant should have a good degree in a relevant field and have proven research leadership ability and experience in the management of science/technology. Some commercial experience would be an advantage. The Institute undertakes research and development (R&D) in all matters related to the conversion of milk into dairy products, including the market-oriented requirements of the New Zealand Dairy Board. Other major activities include work for manufacturing dairy companies and the implementation of research findings. • Excellent laboratories and pilot plant are situated at Palmerston North adjoining the Massey University campus and adjacent to three major Divisions of the New Zealand Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. The Institute's staff totals approximately 260 (96 Research Officers), with an annual expenditure, including the Dairy Products Development Centre (pilot facilities), of approximately SI4M. , ■ n , The position carries a good level of remuneration, refated initially to qualifications and experience.
