Suleymanoglu, who defected from Bulgaria two years ago, gave Turkey its first Olympic gold medal in 20 years. He is due to fly home today in the Turkish Prime Minister, Turgut Ozal’s, private plane. A hero’s welcome awaits Suleymanoglu as well as a house, a car, and SUSIOOO monthly salary for the next four years, the official said.
Dutch thrash British
NZPA-Reuter Seoul Lisanne Lejeune scored four goals as the Netherlands, the defending Olympic women’s hockey champion, romped to a 5-1 win over Britain in its second group A match yesterday. The win virtually ensures the Dutch a semi-final spot. A goal 90 seconds from time by the substitute, Debbie Bowman, earned Australia, seeded second behind the Dutch, its first victory of the tournament. They beat West Germany 1-0. Lejeune converted the Netherlands’ opening three penalty corners in the first half hour of the game.
