Challenges await Todd
PA Seoul Mark Todd still has two burning ambitions in spite of his history-making back-to-back gold medals in the Olympic individual three-day event. Although thrilled with his feat and a place in the Olympic history books Todd said he badly wanted to win a world championship and another Badminton title. “Winning here is fantastic,” Todd said when asked what he could do to top the feat.
“Winning three would be even better. What I would dearly love to do though is win a world championship and another Badminton title. “I haven’t managed to.' win at Badminton since I first went to England in 1980.” At equestrian park there was raucous celebration on Thursday evening. The New Zealand over-all team manager Bruce Ullrich and the equestrian manager, Gus Meech, were nursing sore
heads yesterday morning as a result of the party. Todd was said to have ridden Charisma into the middle of the celebration and many of those present were dunked in horse troughs. “It was certainly a night I’ll never forget,” said Mr Ullrich. “I’ve never been to an equestrian party before — all the people joined in. There were very few dry members of the team by the end of the evening. They seemed to like water troughs.”
