Continuing saga of Elsa the lion
Those who enjoyed the Sunday Family Movie “Born Free” a few weeks ago can see the sequel to that film, “Living Free,” on Sunday at 6 p.m. on Two. “Living Free,” made in 1972, takes up where “Born Free” left off, but with new actors in the lead roles. Susan Hampshire and Nigel Davenport pick up the roles previously played by Virginia McKenna and Bill Travers, as Joy and George Adamson, game wardens in a Kenyan wildlife reserve. Elsa the lion’s cubs have grown somewhat since we last saw them, and the local area is proving too small to contain them. This means a long journey to a new reserve, where they can roam in greater freedom. The journey is fraught with problems of the type that only a trio of very active young lions can present, and the Adamsons have their work well and truly cut out.
