PA ■ Wellington New Zealand drivers rank second only to Americans in the number of kilometers driven each year, according to National Roads Board statistics. The statistics show each New Zealander travels 8426 km a year. Americans led the statistics with 11,754 km a year for each person. Canadians travelled similar distances to New Zealanders with 8331 km. Australians were next with 7764 km. Other statistics were Finland (6345 km France (6268 km
West Germany (5830 km Denmark (5809 km the Netherlands (5455 km Britain (5115 km Italy (5057 km Japan (3454 km South Africa (2531 km and Spain (1964 km New Zealanders also travelled further than many from other countries compared to the' amount of money spent on roads. Vehicles'in New Zealand travelled more than five times as far as those in Japan for the same amount of money spent on roads and nearly twice as far as Americans and Australians.
