Challenge on salaries issued
PA Wellington A Ministerial challenge has been issued to the editors of the “Evening Post” and the “Dominion” newspapers to publish details of their salary packages. The challenge has come from the Minister of State Services, Mr Rodger, after recent editorials in both newspapers criticising Government secrecy about chief executives’ packages in departments
and State-owned enterprises. Mr Rodger said he “looked forward” to the editors of both papers publicising their personal details, to show how strongly their newspapers viewed such matters. “At that point I think they will have a very persuasive argument for me to rbconsider my position,” he said, referring to the confidentiality of salary packages of departmental chief executives.
