Dods to take on Counties
Buoyed by the stronger showing of the red and black brigade against Otago last Saturday, Mr Doug Bruce has chosen all but one of those players for Canterbury’s first division rugby match against Counties at Lancaster Park tomorrow.
The one change is at open-side flanker, where Stephen Dods returns, after a two-match absence, to displace Dallas Seymour. Dods has played in 15 of Canterbury’s 18 matches this season, and his swiftness to the breakdown and his bootlace tackling should trouble the nimble Counties
backs. i With the Ranfurly Shield game against Auckland . only eight days away, Mr Bruce has resisted any urge to make dramatic changes in his line-up. The side, therefore, will be:— Shayne Philpott, Mark Vincent, Andrew McCormick, Andrew Simcock, Warwick Taylor, Stephen Bachop,’ Bruce , Deans; Andy Earl, Dods, Grant Mickell, Albert Anderson (captain), Robin Penney, Tala Kele, John Buchan, Brent Harvey. Reserves. —Backs: Graeme Bachop, Richard Connell, Joe Leota. Forwards: Seymour, John Mills, Tavita Sio.
