FTsSSSi ■ - ' ■ The Southern Raiders grew out of the Mainland Blues Band who were resident at the Imperial last year, and upon hearing the new line up and WL_ tK. MmHv big sound they had to offer, the Management wasted no time in hiring F the band. k The band’s line up consists of Wally Pihama (vocals, harp), Jimmy Brenan (guitar, vocals), Oliver Hanncock (keyboards), Mark Hubson jtt’ 3 ’’' (sax), Todd Jones (bass), Dereck Panapa (drums). k, Ijgirahß’ They are moving into a more soul feel at the moment with songs by Alan i| I ‘rf** Green, Stevie Winwood, Joe Cocker, while still retaining their blues and J'..S- ' rlrv- m rock’n roll sound with the likes of the Blues Brothers and Powder Blues •' Band and also moving on to the core Rock’n Roll/Blue’s man George . « Thorogood, for good measure. - 7 jKf The band goes on tour in a fortnight with a Blues show and a tribute to 7 - ,■ -rW.JiiF.3MI Jimi Hendrix, for which guitarist look-alike, play-alike Jimmy Brennan ; whose licks bring back poignant memories for all Hendrix fans, seems V/5L to be renowned for. So, if you miss them this time around, you’ll be able to see them back at the Imperial in early November. A band which looks l like going somewhere in the near future.
