N-tests will continue
France will not cease nuclear testing in the Pacific, said a French parliamentary delegation to New Zealand yesterday. The five-member delegation met the Primary Production and Commerce and Marketing Select Committees. Although one member of the delegation agreed with the committee’s hope that nuclear testing by France in the Pacific would stop, France “is very keen on security and this nuclear deterrent.”' Mr Michele Lambert, of the Socialist Party, said that France did not benefit from the “American umbrella.” "We are also closer to our enemies,” he said.
