Jobless for clean-up?
PA Greymouth The Greymouth Borough Council wants unemployed people to help in flood-relief work. The borough overseer, Mr Kevin Brown, said he had applied to the Labour Department for 10 unemployed people to assist in the huge clean-up.
“We could employ them for at least a month,” he said. The borough has yet to assess damage to the underground drainage and stormwater system which cost $50,000 to repair after the May floods, but Mr Brown said the council expected a bigger repair bill this time.
