Voluntary work proves satisfying
Danielle Messenger has been spending her school holidays following in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother. More than 20 years ago, they did voluntary
work for the Leprosy Trust Board in Christchurch and Danielle, aged 13, decided it would be a good way to spend some of her spare time during the holiday break. However, she has
found that technology has brought about a few changes over the years. While her mother collected donations for the board, Danielle has carried out office duties such as mailing receipts and working on the com-
puter. “I really enjoy the work and would like to keep doing it over the Christmas holidays. I like doing different things and the people are really nice.”
