Free daffodils at Bishopdale
It is “daffodil day” at the Bishopdale Shopping Centre today and many lucky shoppers will be given a daffodil for shopping at the centre. “Spring is definitely in the air so we thought we would give it a little help,” said the chairman of the Bishopdale Shopping Centre Merchants’ Association, Mr Merv Laby. Bishopdale is well suited to the spring season with its wide open walkways, lovely landscaped planted areas and a delightful array of trees and shrubs which are in full blossom at present. “The owners are very proud of their shops and the neat and tidy appearance of the centre so we want the customers to get the same satisfaction.
“Shopping at Bishopdale is a pleasurable experience,” he said. With over 50 outlets ranging from the small one-person shops through to the larger chain-store facilities, the centre has an amazing range of consumer goods. Bishopdale is the largest shopping centre in Christchurch and with most of the businesses being owner-operated customers can be assured of service at its best. This high percentage of privately owned businesses means customers can be assured of top quality service. Two new businesses just opened at Bishopdale are Neumann Prier Real Estate and John Connor Optometrist. The shopping centre
was first opened 23 years ago to serve a growing suburb being established in the north-west of Christchurch. As the population has matured and grown, so has the shopping centre. State Insurance has recently opened a new twostorey building with a staff of eight while outlets such as Mitre 10 have undergone expansion phases over the years. A highlight of shopping at Bishopdale is the enormous off-street parking with space for over 600 cars. This large number of car spaces and the great depth of shops sited at Bishopdale means the shopping centre has all your needs with maximum convenience.
