Trend awards ‘over’
The news media’s apparent obsession with socalled trend-setting awards showed they did not understand* the present economic climate, said the deputy directorgeneral of the Employers’ Federation, Mr Steve Marshall, yesterday. By using such terminology the news media were setting an emotive scene removed from reality, he said.
“The days of trendsetting awards have passed.” The year should be one, of change with bargaining a science'rather than “an exercise ,in, brute force arid ignorance.” / : 1
