Start date report denied
PA Auckland TV3’s proposed start date will not be known until early next month. A spokesman for the independent network said a report in yesterday’s “Dominion,” saying the new channel would start transmitting in September or October next year, was completely unfounded. The story said TV3’s managing director, Mr Tom Parkinson, said he
had been thinking in terms of transmission starting in September or October next year. - He did not comment on the details of the channel’s finances, except to say the company had all the equity it needed. The starting date would not be announced till all facets of the channel’s operation had been coordinated. These included acquiring equipment, set-
ting up studios and fixing lengths for microwave transmissions, Mr Parkinson said. ■ .. . Earlier, he had said the station < could not start transmitting in April, 1989, as planned because of frequency allocation wrangles with TVNZ which have since been solved. It is believed transmission could start next June or early July.
