‘Racing Facts’ available

“Racing Facts,” the brainchild of a Wellington journalist, Ray O’Connor, which has proven such a boon to those seeking detailed records of the previous season, is available for the 1987-88 term. Marketed, accurately, as an “instant reference” the book lists every thoroughbred horse to have raced in New Zealand during ' the season and their complete race record giving all the necessary details such as distance, weight, track conditions rider, type of race, location and lifetime career record.

The marketing angle of publications such as “Racing Facts” is the “at a glance” format which gives it an advantage over other official records. It has special appeal for punters in the first half of the season before new season performances limit its potential but even then it has its uses for such things as how a particular horse handles certain track conditions or distances.

"Racing Facts” also gives an accurate diagram of very track in New Zealand, and its characteristics, all winners listed under their sires, training and riding statistics and listed races. There is no question of the accuracy of such statistics either as they are all gleaned from the Racing Conference computer. An additional section in the front covers up-and-coming horses among the two and three-year-olds from throughout the country. “Racing Facts” is available from most T.A.B. offices and bookshops at $55.
