Brough honoured
A former headmaster of Christ’s College, Mr Tony Brough, was last evening made a life member of the Canterbury Rowing Association. Mr Brough was president of the C.R.A. for four years, but is best known for his considerable input in schools’ rowing. In March this year Mr Brough organised and ran the most successful Maadi Cup New Zealand secondary schools regatta in the history of the event. The regatta, held at Lake Ruataniwha, Twizel, incidentally also brought Christ’s College’s first Maadi Cup eights and Springbok Shield fours wins. He also steered the New Zealand secondary schools regatta held at Ruantaniwha for the first time in 1985. Mr Brough was responsible for getting rowing' off the ground, in the 1986-87 season, at Rangi Ruru Girls’ School, coaching crews there for a couple of years. At the national secondary schools regatta this year Rangi Ruru won the girls’ under 16 eights and should be a strong contender for the Levin Jubilee Cup (under-19 eights) within a season or two.
