Paxus jobs for 30
Only 30 of the 96 staff at the Health Department computer centre in Christchurch have been offered permanent jobs by the new owner, Paxus Computer Services. These figures were supplied yesterday by Mr J. M. McKenzie, secretary of the Public Service Association in Christchurch. A number of others have been offered tern-
porary jobs, paid by the Health Department. The number of jobs lost will not be known until the number who have accepted temporary job offers has been announced. Mr McKenzie said the permanent Christchurch jobs were for two years only. A meeting of health workers and the cheque section of the New Zea- ' land Council of Trade
Unions yesterday discussed the notices given to the Christchurch health-computer workers on Monday. - The meeting opposed any privatisation of health services including the computer section, Mr McKenzie said. CTU representatives will discuss the matter at a meeting with Christchurch members of Parliament on Friday.
